A Visit From Friends! - a photo blog.

We were so blessed to have a couple of our friends from St Louis come to visit us this winter! They brought us a sweet (literally and figuratively) care package from the Young Adults in our home church there, and despite the fact that all of us experienced "Napoleon's Revenge" at some point, we had a blast and received a ton of encouragement! We even got nicknames. Erica and I were named after the GI bug, "Vomiteuse"and "La Poop-aye." Ryan became the "Stroller Slayer" for nearly knocking out a woman on the subway as he sat down the the stroller slung over his shoulder, Sydney was "Madame Entropy" for her ability to immediately disorder a room, and Sam was "Mr. Here's They Go!" for his excellent narration of our epic sledding experience in Switzerland. Enjoy the pictures! This is part 1- the cities.

Paris
Note: From Albertville, it is more than twice as far to Paris than to the middle of Switzerland

Sydney making sure her doll is getting enough fluids
Loving the high speed train. Time by train from Lyon to Paris: ~1hr By car: >4hrs

As we walked up the stairs of the Eiffel Tower, Sydney was yelling (1yr old gibberish), trying to get people to wave back.

Lunchtime!
Notre Dame Cathedral
Sydney's mode of transport, especially for naps and at night!

Walking to the boat tour at sunset
On the boat!
A pic from the boat
Seeing the bridges from the river was a whole different way to experience them! Many friends of King Henry told him that he couldn't build it. So the King put all of their faces on the bridge to mock them.
The Louvre

See the bird flying above her?
She LOVED the birds.
She also likes stairs, just a little bit.
Looking at the back of the sculpture of Cupid. We downloaded an app that told us all sorts of interesting facts, including what was on the back of some of the exhibits.
Who knew that they took selfies way back when!?
When Sydney is tired, she is not very subtle

Lyon- the food capital of France

Beautiful old city
Old Lyon- getting a taste!
Happy to take a rest from the walking

The best salad- Lyonnaise. Complete with lots of meat and a poached egg

Diving right into the chocolate mousse

Lots of steps!!
Très contente!

Again, NOT subtle when she is tired.
Notre Dame of Lyon

A REALLY old Roman road. Try 60 BC. So cool!
An amphitheater still in use. Can't imagine something still being used in 2000 years
Roman columns on the stage
Sitting on the carved stones- part of the amphitheater that has fallen
Another church in the background, and we are the three people in the middle of the pic.
